Tuesdays meeting was informative as we discussed a number of alternative suggestions and further updates on the County Councils plans for changes to the traffic lights AND now have a framework as to how we will handle our submission regarding these proposals. On the topic of our relationship with the Council, Micheál paid tribute to Harry Walsh for all of his work in relation to the BBA submission of the Draft County Development Plan. This was a very impressive document, copies of which will be made available to BA members in the next week.
Brian Crowley MEP met some members of the Ballincollig Business Association. It was a great opportunity to meet with our sitting MEP and understand more about how it can benefit the Business community in Ballincollig.
The meeting took place in the Ulster Bank, conference room at 3pm Friday the 14th of March .
We would like to thank Aoife Keohane for the use of the conference room.
Patricks Day Parade
Great success – largest crowd so far circa 15k in attendance. Great feedback for having it featured on RTE – made a positive statement about Ballincollig.
The additional Garda presence certainly helped matters – great thanks to them and for the use of the station as a base.
Full thank you list being compiled – can members submit additions asap so that no one is left out
This will be published on the Ballincollig Newsletter and Ballincollig News
Two negatives were discussed – there was a 10 minute gap at one stage somewhere around the pole fitness display and the Gymnastics club – unfortunately this meant we lost a lot of the onlookers at this time.
Secondly there was an issue at the end of the parade and a child went missing – we will have to tighten proceedures for groups at this area for future parades – key is attendance at the Health & Safety meeting
Special thanks to Bettina for all her work – without her we couldnt have managed – the admin for the parade is now getting very heavy as we grow and flourish.
Big thank you to the organising committee who gave up so much personal time – and are still not finished!!!
Review meeting – to be advised.
Other Items discussed
Now up and running – a big thank you to the committee here particularly John Brennan for all his work.
